Re: Redline reopening « Result #3 on Sept 29, 2009, 5:59pm »
Not too many tracks run Modifieds on Friday night in the immediate area. Penn Can does and that place sucks. Alot of people left there and some even came to Redline. Everyone I know loved racing redline. I thought the 2008 and 2009 seasons at Redline had great crowds. Modified attendance was definately up. I am just hoping that who ever takes over the track realizes that there is really no where to run on Friday if you are a modified in that area. Looking forward to coming back to Redline if at all possible. Really miss the place and the people there. Please reconsider Modifieds.

reopening in 2010 « Result #7 on Sept 28, 2009, 12:18am »
Why no modifieds if Redline reopens.? I think they were their biggest draw. I know alot of the modifieds have been keeping and eye and ear open for the reopening of the track. What a hartbreak if they don't have them. Most of the guys don't really have anywhere else to run. Sure they filled in here and there but Redline was their home. A few races during the season won't cut it, especially if they find somewhere else to run. Why loose your spot at a regular track to run a track that is only going to run a few special shows. You would have to start in the back for 3 weeks at your regular track. Not very good business sense. god knows they arn't in it for the money, if that was the fact, no one would be racing. so please reconsider adding modifieds to the regular racing season if Redline reopens. Crate Sportsman, didn't have them on schedule before ow will they even know to show up. I know of at least 7 modifieds that can't wait for Redline to reopen and I am sure there are more. I have one thing to say, MODIFIEDS, MODIFIEDS, MODIFIEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Redline Raceway Set to Reopen in 2010 « Result #8 on Sept 27, 2009, 7:51pm »
Grandville, PA – Friday night racing returns to Redline Raceway in 2010 with a fresh start and a new attitude. The promoting team of Vern Wasson, Kyle Lefelhoc, and Carol Houssock have agreed to terms with the Matthews Family, which will allow the facility to open next year and beyond. Work behind the scenes has already begun and more information will be released in the next few weeks including an updated website.
Plans for the 2010 season will see the Crate Sportsman Modifieds as the headline division, which will run the same rules as Wasson’s former track, Woodhull Raceway. Talks are already ongoing about cross promotions between the two tracks. All other classes which include the IMCA Mods, Street Stocks, Mini Stock, and FWD staying the same. Modifieds will still see action at the track but will be limited to special events only. Also on the schedule will be a mix of special touring series to be announced later.
The new management team would like to welcome back all the competitors and fans as they look forward to the start of bigger and better things at the 1/3 mile oval. Questions regarding the 2010 season can be sent by email to the following addresses:

Shangri-La 2 to host DIRT Street Stocks on Concret « Result #9 on Sept 15, 2009, 3:06pm »
Shangri-La II Speedway in Tioga Center, NY has recently announced that they will be adding the DIRT style Street Stocks (known at some tracks such as Penn Can as Pure Stocks) to their Sunday October 4th part of their Fall Brawl line-up.
The DIRT Street Stock race will be a 25 lap event paying $500 to win. Last time on the big 1/2 mile concrete oval, Nick Robinson looked like he was the man to beat but he had some oil leakage problem that sidelined him.
I don't think there are any conflicting races on that Sunday, so instead of sitting home being bored, come down to see who can be the king of the concrete for the DIRT regulars! Home track rules apply to this race, so bring your home track rule book with you! Let's see who can be the best of the best on the concrete! How about the Thunder Mountain, Five Mile Point, Afton, Skyline, Penn Can, Black Rock, Dunn Hill 2 and Woodhull hot-shoes all see who can be the top of the class on a surface that is much different than what you guys usually set up for.
For those wondering about what gear to run, from what I heard during the last DIRT on concrete show, the fastest ride of the day was using 308 gears in a GM rear (think 8.5 but not sure) and a powerglide tranny.
